Warframe now supports crossplay, developer Digital Extremes announced today. The announcement was accompanied by a video featuring Warframe Creative Director Rebecca Ford. The arrival of cross-platform play means that Warframe players can now embark on missions together regardless of whether they’re playing on PC, PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo Switch.
Warframe Cross Platform Play Announcement
“The introduction of Cross Platform Play breaks down pre-existing barriers between consoles and PC’s,” says the video description. “Squad up with your friends wherever they play, and get into the game even faster with reduced matchmaking times thanks to a wider pool of available Tenno.” Crossplay can be enabled and disabled from within the options menu.
While Warframe now supports cross platform play, it is important to note that the game does not support cross-saves, at least not yet. The crossplay system is still in development and will introduce new features as it continues to improve. Cross saves will be “added at a later date once the full suite of Cross Platform Play features have been established,” according to the official Cross Platform Play Guide on the Warframe website. The guide covers how crossplay works in Warframe and what features players can expect in the future. Players are encouraged to follow the Warframe social channels to stay up to date on any cross-save updates.
