The virtual truck gaming sector belongs to SCS Software and its Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator series. Developer Triangle Studios and publisher Soedesco are trying to cut out a slice for themselves with the upcoming Truck Driver. To provide an update on its progress, Triangle Studios CEO, Remco de Rooij, has posted the first Truck Driver Development Update today.
Truck Driver Progress Update
While others have made attempts at entering this arena before, Truck Driver looks to be the first real contender. Remco addresses the question of a release date by promising more details soon.
At the moment, we are in the very final stages of development. We just want to make sure that everything is doing what it’s supposed to be doing […] which means that we have still a while to go before we get to that stage, and once we do, we’ll be able to finally announce that release date to you.
Remco goes on to explain that the team is going over all data collected during their recent closed beta. They are making tweaks to the game based on player suggestions and feedback. Updated physics and better engine sounds are also coming to the trucks in Truck Driver.
The garage interface and functionality will be quite different from what players saw in the past.
During the beta, we noticed that it wasn’t really that intuitive to a lot of people, so we decided to overhaul it and create something that is a lot more intuitive to use and looks better on top of that.
To address concerns about the original beta’s map, Triangle Studios is creating a brand new map for Truck Driver. Remco has promised more information and future updates on this very labor-extensive task.
You can follow Truck Driver’s development on their Steam Community page as the team works towards a simultaneous release for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
