The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Next-Gen Update Includes DLC Inspired by the Netflix Series

The new cover art for the next-gen edition of The Witcher 3 has also been revealed.

The first WitcherCon event took place on Friday, revealing tons of new details about The Witcher Netflix series as well as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. During the stream, fans learned that the upcoming next-generation upgrade for The Witcher 3 will come with additional free content inspired by the Netflix show.

The news was revealed during a virtual WitcherCon panel featuring CD Projekt Red lead quest designers Philipp Weber and Błażej Augustynek. “For this upgrade, we collaborated with Netflix for some free DLC to add to the game,” said Weber during the segment. Though the developers didn’t go into specifics, Weber mentioned Geralt’s armor from the Netflix series as an example of a possible show-inspired DLC item fans can expect in the upgraded version.

The upgraded edition of The Witcher 3, also known as the Complete Edition, is expected to arrive for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC during the second half of 2021. The next-gen edition will feature a slew of visual and technical improvements, including faster load times and ray-tracing support. The enhancements will come as a free upgrade for those who already own the game on PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, while the upgraded edition itself will release as a standalone purchase later this year.
