The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Next-Gen Update Coming in December

The free update will arrive just in time for the holidays.

The highly anticipated next-generation update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt now has an official release date. According to an announcement today from CD Projekt Red, the next-gen update will arrive on December 14, 2022 as a free update for players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles.

The next-gen upgrade was initially expected in 2021, but was subsequently delayed. In May 2022, CDPR announced that they planned to release the updated version sometime in Q4 2022. This turned out to be the case, as the next-gen update will arrive before year’s end.

“The next-gen update for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is coming on December 14th, free for everyone who already owns the game,” reads the announcement on Twitter. CDPR plans to reveal gameplay and additional details during their REDstream on Twitch next week. Although CDPR did not mention a date or time, those interested will want to tune in for more information.

The upgraded version of The Witcher 3 is now being developed in-house and is expected to add ray tracing and other graphical enhancements for players on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. Those on PC will also receive a patch to coincide with the next-gen console update. Check back here soon for more The Witcher 3 news.
