Pre-loading Begins For The Matrix Awakens on Consoles

The full reveal of The Matrix Awakens will take place at The Game Awards on Thursday.

Pre-loading is now available for The Matrix Awakens: An Unreal Engine 5 Experience on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. A new teaser confirms that the full reveal for The Matrix Awakens will happen during The Game Awards on Thursday, December 9.

The Matrix Awakens is a free interactive tech demo created using Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 5. The console app requires roughly 29 GB of storage space, so it is a good idea to pre-load The Matrix Awakens ahead of its launch this Thursday.

“Get ready for a glimpse into the future of interactive storytelling and entertainment with UE5 in this free, boundary-pushing cinematic and real-time tech demo,” reads the product description. The Matrix Awakens is described as “a wild ride into the reality-bending universe of ‘The Matrix’,” featuring performances by Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss.

Not much else is known about The Matrix Awakens app or what the experience will entail. A brief teaser released today shows a camera zooming out from the face of Keanu Reeves while saying, “How do we know what is real?” What we do know that The Matrix Awakens is part of a promotional push to build hype for the upcoming film, The Matrix Resurrections, which releases in theaters and on HBO Max on December 22.
