Following its announcement in October, The Long Dark: Tales From the Far Territory expansion pass now has an official release date. According to developer Hinterland’s roadmap, each Part of the expansion pass will consist of both paid and free updates that will release every 8-10 weeks. The expansion will introduce new regions to The Long Dark’s Survival Mode, such as the Forsaken Airfield and Industrial Mine, along with several new gameplay mechanics.

Enhanced cooking features such as new ingredients and recipes will offer various gameplay effects. Another new feature unique to the Far Territory is Glimmer Fog, which causes an electrostatic charge in the surrounding environment that can result in interesting effects on electronic devices.

Tales From the Far Territory wouldn’t be aptly named if not for its new Tales. The expansion pass will include three different Tales that tie back to the Wintermute storyline and feature their own gameplay objectives.

The expansion pass will release alongside several free updates that will be available to all The Long Dark players, regardless of whether they purchased the expansion pass. Free updates will include helpful visor notes, fire-hardened arrows, improved animations, and refreshed starting spawns, wildlife, and resources.

Additional expansion pass details will be revealed as we get closer to launch. Stay tuned to Guide Stash for updates and visit The Long Dark website for more on what Tales From the Far Territory has in store.
