The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes Coming in 2021

The third story in the survival horror anthology will come to both current and next-gen consoles as well as PC.

Today, Bandai Namco and Supermassive Games announced that the third story in The Dark Pictures Anthology will release next year. The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes will be available in 2021 for PC as well as both current and next-generation Xbox and PlayStation consoles.

The Dark Pictures Anthology is a series of interactive survival horror games that began in 2019 with Man of Medan. Eight installments are planned for the anthology, with one releasing each year so far. Today’s announcement of House of Ashes comes just weeks after the launch of Little Hope, the second story in the series, which released on October 30.

“We are thrilled to reveal this third game within The Dark Pictures Anthology,” said Pete Samuels, CEO of Supermassive Games. “Like the previous stories, House of Ashes will bring a brand-new story and cast of characters to players, with its own unique twists and turns, and a new threat for the characters to face. We can’t wait to share more details about the story!”

Here is a brief overview of the House of Ashes story, according to Bandai Namco:

“Iraq, 2003. As the conflict draws to a close, CIA field operative Rachel King joins an elite military unit on a raid of a suspected underground chemical weapons facility in the shadow of the Zagros Mountains.

Arriving at the coordinates, the unit is ambushed by a local patrol led by Sergeant Salim Othman. During the battle, an earthquake opens sinkholes in the ground, pitching both sides into the ruins of a buried Sumerian temple. In the darkness beneath the Arabian Desert, something evil is awakened. Savage and unstoppable, a nest of ancient and unearthly creatures has a new prey to hunt.”

The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes will release in 2021 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. Head over to the Bandai Namco website for more information.
