Splitgate’s Last Major Update Will Add a Free Infinite Battle Pass

The developers at 1047 Games are shifting their attention towards a new Splitgate project built in Unreal Engine 5.

Splitgate developer 1047 Games announced on Friday that the next big update for Splitgate will be its last. The studio plans to move their attention away from major Splitgate updates and towards a new project set within the Splitgate universe that will be built from the ground up using Unreal Engine 5. Work on the new project will begin following Splitgate’s release out of beta, which is scheduled for September 15, 2022. This also marks the start of Splitgate’s final season, which will introduce a free Infinite Battle Pass the same day.

“After careful consideration and much deliberation the 1047 Games team has determined that in order to build the game fans deserve – and to build it in a way that isn’t trying to retrofit and live operate an existing product – we are ending feature development of Splitgate,” reads the announcement from 1047 Games.

“We’re turning our attention away from iterative, smaller updates and going all-in to focus on a new game in the Splitgate universe which will present revolutionary, not evolutionary, changes to our game. It will be a shooter, it will have portals, and it will be built in Unreal Engine 5. Oh, and it will be free.”

A new Infinite Battle Pass will release for free for Splitgate players when the game launches out of beta on September 15. It is titled the Infinite Battle Pass because players can continue to unlock levels and earn rewards after completing the initial 100 levels, according to the Splitgate FAQ. The Infinite Battle Pass will include new customizations and characters, including one that the developers consider their “best female character to date.”

“We want to be clear that Splitgate will remain online as will your items and progression. In fact, we will roll out a new Battle Pass on September 15 – and it will be free to everyone as a thank you for playing Splitgate.”
