Remnant: From the Ashes, the next game from Darksiders 3 developer Gunfire Games, now has an official release date. The release date was announced today alongside a preview on IGN that includes some exclusive gameplay and boss fight footage. You can check out IGN’s preview footage at the end of this article.
Remnant: From the Ashes is a third-person, survival action game that takes place in a post-apocalyptic setting. In a world ravaged by otherworldy creatures, only a ‘remnant’ of mankind remains (hence the name). You play as one of the few survivors fighting to take back what’s left of the ruined world.
You and your team of survivors are capable of using portals to reach alternate worlds where you can scavenge for supplies. However, there’s plenty of horrors to tackle along the way, so you’ll have to come prepared. The game supports co-op for up to three players, but you can venture out alone if you so desire. IGN’s preview states that Gunfire had tried out four-player co-op, but that “it became too run-and-gun, or they had to make the enemies too bullet sponge-y, neither of which felt right for Remnant to them.”
According to the IGN preview, there are three classes to play as in Remnant: Scrapper, Ex-Cultist, or Hunter. These classes act as a baseline for your character, which you can customize to your liking as you play the game. Remnant features dynamically generated worlds, each presenting new challenges and creatures for you to adapt to. The game also has dynamically generated quests, offering even more replay value for you and your co-op companions.
