Pokémon Day Celebrations in Pokémon GO

Pokémon Day Celebrations in Pokémon GO

Pokémon Day is on February 27 and the festivities begin today in Pokémon GO.

Aside from major holidays, there are very few days out of the year that I think is worth celebrating. February 27 just happens to be one of those days.

Pokémon Day

Every year on February 27, which is also known as Pokémon Day, people around the world come together and celebrate the world of Pokémon.

They share memories of when they first played the Pokémon games, eat pizza that resembles a Pokéball, watch their favorite episodes of Pokémon, and celebrate everything Pokémon. Pokémon is one of my all time favorite games and I’m really excited to celebrate all things Pokémon in Pokémon GO.

This year, to celebrate Pokémon Day, Niantic is throwing a special event in Pokémon GO. Starting February 26, 2019, at 1:00 p.m. PST and ending February 28, 2019, at  1:00 p.m. PST trainers will start noticing some very familiar Pokémon.

Pokémon originally discovered in the Kanto region will appear more frequently and will be available to challenge in raid battles. Pikachu and Eevee wearing flower crowns will make a special appearance as Field Research encounters and in the wild, and you will have the chance to catch the Shiny variants of both Pidgey and Rattata.

The festivities won’t end there, because Nintendo will be holding a special Pokémon Direct on February 27 at 6:00 a.m. PST. One can only wonder what they will be showing. Are we finally going to hear about the new core Pokémon game we were teased about in Nintendo’s E3 2017 presentation? I have a really good feeling that it will be.

Whatever Nintendo decides to show, I know for a fact that it will be amazing and we Pokéfreaks will eat it up like a Munchlax. Have a happy Pokémon Day and may you complete your quest in becoming a Pokémon Master.
