A brand new Pokémon is coming to Pokémon GO, and Professor Willow has some research for trainers to accomplish to catch Clamperl.
Clamperl Special Research
Clamperl is a Water-type Pokémon that will only be obtainable during a special three-hour event. During this event, trainers will have to obtain special research tasks. To obtain special research tasks, you will need to spin the photo discs at PokéStops. Special research tasks may be picked up at PokéStops more than once. As long as you’ve collected the limited research task during the event window, you can complete it at any time. Completed research tasks will give you a chance at catching this bivalve Pokémon.
Event Features and Time
A special research event wouldn’t be complete without extra goodies. During this event you will receive two times catch Stardust for Water-type Pokémon, Water-type Pokémon will appear more frequently, limited research tasks will be available, and completing limited research tasks will award you encounters with Clamperl.
This Clamperl special research event will only be three hours long. The times for all areas are listed below.
- Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India: Feb. 23, 2019, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. UTC
- The Americas and Greenland: Feb. 23, 2019, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. PST
- Asia-Pacific: Feb. 24, 2019, from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. JST
Clamperl can evolve into two different Pokémon: Huntail or Gorebyss. You will need 50 Clampearl candies for it to evolve, which you can get by catching Clamperl. The evolutions are random, so make sure to catch as many Clamperl as possible. At this time it is unknown if the shiny variant of Clamperl will be available, but I have a feeling that Niantic has slipped the shiny variant in as a nice surprise.
Professor Willow has given trainers a great opportunity to explore and discover new places, so get out there and fill that Pokédex during the Clamperl special research event!
