Today, Frontier Developments released a free update for Planet Zoo alongside a new paid DLC that introduces eight North American animals to the game. Update 1.7 and the North America Animal Pack are both available now.

Update 1.7 is a free update that is available to all Planet Zoo players who own the base game. The update adds new Mapping Tools as well as various pre-made Terrain Types to be used as a base. Big cats receive new Deep Swimming abilities as part of the update. New Animal Talk seating areas debut in this update as well. While Update 1.7 is free for all Planet Zoo owners, the North America Animal Pack is a paid DLC that costs $9.99 USD. The pack adds eight new animals from North America to Planet Zoo, along with new enrichment items and a new Timed Scenario set in the Blue Ridge Mountains. The eight new animals are as follows:
- American Alligator
- American Beaver
- American Bullfrog
- Moose
- California Sea Lion
- Cougar
- Black-tailed Prairie Dog
- Arctic Fox
