Overwatch 2 Players Will Get a Free Legendary Skin in October

Blizzard will be giving players free in-game goodies as an apology for the game’s rough launch.

It’s no secret that Overwatch 2 suffered from various technical issues when the game launched earlier this month. As a way of apologizing for the troubled launch, Blizzard will be giving Overwatch 2 players some free in-game goodies, including a new legendary skin.

All Overwatch 2 players who log in from October 25, 2022 through the end of Season One will receive the new Cursed Captain Reaper legendary skin along with a Health Pack Weapon Charm.

Blizzard has released several patches since the game’s launch on October 4, with another patch expected to arrive this week. “We’ve largely stabilized the game overall, and we’ve made a lot of progress in fixing or improving issues some of you are facing,” says Blizzard in a recent news post. “We’re committed to consistently investigating issues as they arise, working quickly towards fixes, and being transparent with our community on the status of Overwatch 2.” Those interested in tracking some of the known issues in Overwatch 2 should keep an eye on this Blizzard forum thread.

In addition to the free cosmetic items, Blizzard has several Double Match XP weekends planned in an effort to “make up for lost time.” No dates have been specified just yet, but we will be sure to keep you informed of any updates.
