Outriders Release Date Set for February 2021

The developers are taking a bit more time to add some final touches to Outriders before launch.

Square Enix has announced that Outriders, the upcoming RPG shooter from People Can Fly, will not be arriving during Holiday 2020 as initially expected. The game will launch in February 2021 instead, allowing the developers more time to put the finishing touches on the game before release.

Outriders is now scheduled to release on February 2, 2021. The game will feature full cross-play compatibility across all platforms the game is available on. This includes PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The game will release for Stadia at a later date. “We’re taking a little bit longer to ensure players have the best possible experience with OUTRIDERS, we’re also including new features like Cross-Play which will make our game much more accessible on all platforms,” said Lee Singleton, Co-Head of Studio at Square Enix External Studios.

Furthermore, those who purchase Outriders on a current-generation console (Xbox One or PS4) can upgrade to the next-gen version within the same console family for free. That is, you can upgrade from the PS4 version to PS5, or from the Xbox One version to Xbox Series S/X via Smart Delivery. This is great news for players who won’t be picking up a next-gen console right away.

“The great thing about this system is that even if you’re not picking up your PS5 or XSX quite yet, we’ve got you covered and there’s no need to wait. If you buy the current-gen version of OUTRIDERS, we’ll give you the next-gen version for free,” said Jon Brooke, Co-Head of Studio at Square Enix External Studios.
