Last week, Electronic Arts revealed EA SPORTS NHL 24 along with the game’s cover athlete, Cale Makar. Today, a new developer deep-dive video from EA delves into an assortment of changes coming to World of Chel in NHL 24, with crossplay being one of those noteworthy changes. The complete World of Chel trailer is available below as well as on the EA SPORTS NHL YouTube channel.
NHL 24 World of Chel Trailer
According to the trailer, crossplay will be available in Hockey Ultimate Team as well as all World of Chel modes in NHL 24. The addition of crossplay will allow players to team up across consoles of the same generation, making for faster matchmaking and more ways to meet fellow players. Those looking to get in a few rounds with friends can partake in the new Quickplay 3v3 casual mode in World of Chel. The EASHL playoff structure has also been revamped to better reflect what happens in the real NHL playoffs.
Character customization is more streamlined than ever before in NHL 24 thanks to the new and improved Creation Zone. The character editing tools are now available on one screen and the interface is quicker and more responsive than in previous titles. Players can save their favorite styles as presets for easy access later on.
The hockey bag has been replaced by an all new World of Chel Battle Pass, which features a variety of customizations for players to unlock including player classes, celebrations, banners, and gear. Although the Battle Pass breaks down into free and premium tiers, all players will be granted access to the premium tier for Season 1. Alongside the Battle Pass, players can also peruse the new World of Chel Store and use Chel Coins to purchase specific in-game cosmetic items directly.
NHL 24 launches on October 6, 2023 for PlayStation and Xbox consoles. Those who pre-order the X-Factor Edition of the game will be granted three days early access.
