NHL 22 Patch Update Adds IIHF Women’s National Teams

Playable women’s hockey teams are now available in NHL 22, a first for the franchise.

Playable women’s teams with full rosters are now available in NHL 22 as part of the latest patch update. For the first time in EA SPORTS NHL history, players can now hit the ice as iconic hockey stars from various IIHF women’s teams, such as Hilary Knight, Natalie Spooner, and Marie-Philip Poulin.

The update also introduces Men’s IIHF teams to NHL 22 as well. Alongside World Championship mode, both Men’s and Women’s IIHF teams are available in other modes including Play Now, Online Versus, Threes Now, and Shootouts.

“It has been such a privilege to lace up my digital skates for the very first time in NHL 22, and to get to do so while playing for my country makes it all the more surreal,” said Team Canada Captain Marie-Philip Poulin. “Representation matters, and I’m thrilled that every young girl who picks up a controller to play NHL 22 can feel like hockey is a sport for her, too.”

Today’s patch update for NHL 22 also came with various gameplay adjustments and bug fixes. Check out the NHL 22 January patch notes for the full list of changes.
