Mortal Kombat 1 signals a fresh start for the series, ushering in “a new era of the iconic franchise with a new fighting system, game modes, and Fatalities!” Among the new systems is a feature called Kameo Fighters, which allows players to choose from a roster of Kameo partners to aid you during combat. The game will feature a fresh campaign along with other modes that have yet to be revealed.
Although the trailer features some familiar faces including Raiden, Kung Lao, Kitana, Mileena, and others, the game will feature a new roster of characters. The reboot is set in a reborn Mortal Kombat universe where Liu Kang has ascended to the status of Fire God following the events of the previous game.
Mortal Kombat 1 will launch for PC and consoles when it arrives in September and pre-orders go live on Friday, May 19 at 10:00 a.m. PDT. Those who pre-order will be guaranteed access to the playable character Shang Tsung. Head over to the Mortal Kombat website for updates.
