Today, Microsoft is celebrating its longest running game franchise with the release of Microsoft Flight Simulator 40th Anniversary Edition, which is available now as a free update for players on Xbox consoles and PC.

The latest update for Microsoft Flight Simulator introduces several new features, including new airliners and aircraft. The 1903 Wright Flyer and 1927 Ryan NYP Spirit of St. Louis are among seven historical aircraft that have been added with the updated edition. Helicopters and gliders have also returned to the franchise with Update 11. Along with new aircraft, the 40th Anniversary Edition also introduces four classic airports, including the iconic Meigs Field airport in Chicago.

Microsoft Flight Simulator 40th Anniversary Edition is available as a free update for all existing MFS players. The edition is out now for Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One consoles, PC, and mobile devices via Xbox and PC Game Pass, Windows, Steam, and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
