Hitman 3 is Becoming Hitman World of Assassination

The new title will include all three Hitman games in the trilogy and is a free upgrade for Hitman 3 owners.

Today, IO Interactive announced in a blog post that the iconic Hitman trilogy is being consolidated into one cohesive title. On January 26, 2023, Hitman 3 will become Hitman World of Assassination and will include access to both Hitman 1 and Hitman 2 via Access Pass. Players who already own Hitman 3 will be upgraded to Hitman World of Assassination for free.

Hitman World of Assassination will be the new name of the series going forward and will be the only option available in digital storefronts for new players after January 26. This is meant to streamline the content available between new and existing players. “There will be no more confusion over which edition to buy, what content you own, how to redeem Legacy packs or import locations, etc. We’re done with that,” says the IOI blog.

Following the rebranding, there will be two versions of Hitman World of Assassination available for purchase: the standard edition and the deluxe pack. The standard version will include Hitman 3 along with Hitman 1 and 2 via Access Pass. The Deluxe version adds on several DLC packs, including the Seven Deadly Sins Collection and the Hitman 2 expansion pass.

“The reason for this flexibility is that we know many of you own certain games or DLCs but not others, and we don’t want to force anyone to (re)buy what they already own. We think that’s a good enough reason to still have a few options – but these options won’t be front and centre for new players. The idea is to keep these details visible to those who might need them.”

The rebranding also means that both Hitman 1 and Hitman 2 will no longer be available on digital storefronts as standalone titles. “An important detail that we want to be clear about amongst these changes, is that we’re removing the standalone HITMAN 1 and HITMAN 2 products from sale on all platforms,” says the IOI blog. “If you already own these games, you’ll still be able to access them in the exact same way that you do today. Of course, the majority of the content included in these games remains playable through HITMAN World of Assassination, with all of the improvements that were introduced with HITMAN 3.”
