Hitman 3 Freelancer Mode Delayed to January 2023

IO Interactive will be hosting a closed technical test for Freelancer mode ahead of launch.

Developer IO Interactive kicked off 2022 with ambitious plans for Year 2 of Hitman 3. These plans included a brand new single-player game mode called Freelancer, which was initially slated for release in the spring, but was subsequently pushed back in May. Today, the developers announced a new release date for Hitman 3 Freelancer mode: January 26, 2023.

In preparation for Freelancer’s release, IOI will be conducting a Closed Technical Test for select players to try out the mode and “put it through its paces.” The studio will be selectively inviting Hitman 3 players on Steam next month to play Freelancer mode and help stress-test the servers.

“From customising the safehouse, to eliminating syndicate leaders and unlocking mastery, you’ll be able to try the core elements of the mode – but we’re keeping some things under wraps too!” said the studio in a blog post on Tuesday.

Although the Closed Technical Test will only be available to PC players, Freelancer mode will release as a free update for all Hitman 3 owners when it launches in January.

Those interested in joining the play test will want to mark their calendars for October 27, as this is when IO Interactive plans on revealing additional details regarding the Closed Technical Test, including the start time and how to gain access.
