GWENT: The Witcher Card Game is officially getting its first card expansion, according to today’s announcement from CD Projekt Red. Set to release at the end of the month, Crimson Curse will introduce over 100 new cards to GWENT.
Crimson Curse is based on The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt’s Blood and Wine expansion, whose main antagonist was the vengeful higher vampire, Dettlaff van der Eretein. Dettlaff is set to make his return in Crimson Curse, awakening new monsters and summoning his vampiric brethren.
“The Blood Moon is rising. This is a time of the Crimson Curse, a time of madness and despair,” reads GWENT’s latest blog post. “A dark ritual performed by a mighty higher vampire Dettlaff turns the moon blood red, corrupting the land and its inhabitants.”
The Crimson Curse expansion adds more than 100 new cards to GWENT, including 31 neutral cards and 14 faction cards to reinforce each faction. The additional cards will offer new ways for players to tackle the impending blood-thirsty threat. Opposing Dettlaff isn’t the only option, however. Whether you choose to fend off the vampiric hordes or aide Dettlaff in his vengeful endeavors, Crimson Curse promises new ways to construct and play with your favorite GWENT factions.
GWENT’s Crimson Curse expansion will be available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on Thursday, March 28. Be sure to check out the chilling Crimson Curse teaser trailer above. For more information, head over to the official Crimson Curse website.
