Mercenaries Mode Hits Ghost Recon Wildlands July 18

Get ready for the brand new Mercenaries mode with the final Ghost Recon Wildlands update.

Ubisoft isn’t quite done with Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands just yet. In what is being called a thank-you to players, Ubisoft is releasing a final update introducing a mode called Mercenaries. Mercenaries is a PvPvE game mode that combines multiplayer co-op with multiplayer PvP as the experiences progresses.

Mercenaries PvPvE Mode

Mercenaries is an eight-player free-for-all that blends co-op and multiplayer into a PvPvE experience. It can be broken down into three general phases; Recon, Helicopter Deployment, and Extraction. In the first phase, players will be working to locate three transmitters to pinpoint the extraction zone. After activating three transmitters, a helicopter is deployed to the extraction. Once it lands its location is revealed to all players. The third and final phase involves reaching the extraction zone and filling a gauge to allow you to board. Players must defend the extraction and clear it of opposition in order to fill the gauge and board the helicopter.

Mode Mechanics

  • Looting for Gear: Start with a melee weapon and will need to find the best gear, weapons, and consumables to fight the Unidad forces and enemy players. If a player dies, they will lose all of the loot gathered and start at square one when they re-spawn.
  • Armor: Mercenaries mode will feature a new health and armor system. Based on the gear players pick up, an armor bar will appear. This bar will absorb a percentage of damage based on the penetration capability of the opponent’s weapon.
  • Health: If players are hit by a weapon that deals penetration damage, they will bleed and gradually lose a percentage of their health. If they are injured, they will be able to loot three different types of healing items to get back into fighting shape: medkits, bandages, and syringes.
  • Destructible Doors: Destructible doors can be breached. Players may find intelligence, loot, or cover to aid them in their fight. Think tactically about when to use this as opponents will be able to hear if they are close by.

A Rewards Program will be available to players in Ghost Recon Wildlands until September 27, 2019. By completing challenges during this time, players can earn rewards such as the Lone Wolf costume or a few different Mercenary Items.
