Epic Games will be hosting the Fortnite World Cup Online and you can join in from the comfort of your home. You’ll also be able to win some amazing prizes.
Fortnite World Cup
The Fortnite World Cup is only a few weeks away and Epic Games has released a load of info about it. Online Open qualifying events begin April 13 with the Solo competitions. Duo competition will follow the week after. Both competitions will alternate back and forth for 10 weeks of Online Open play.
How to Qualify for Online Open
To qualify for the Online Opens, players will need to progress to the Championship League in a brand new game mode called Arena. Arena won’t be released until update 8.20, however. If players can climb to the top of the leaderboards, they’ll unlock access to the Fortnite World Cup Online Open tournaments.
Online Open Semi-Finals, Finals, and Scoring
Semi-Finals
Every Saturday, those players that were able to unlock access to the Online Open will be given a chance to participate in the Online Open Finals. Players will have a designated three-hour window to play in 10 matches and score points. The top 3,000 players in each server region will advance to the Online Open Finals.
Finals
During the Online Open Finals on Sunday, players are given another three-hour window to score as many points as possible in up to 10 matches. The top-performing players will earn cash prizes out of a $1,000,000 prize pool.
The highest ranked players from each week will be invited to the Fortnite World Cup Finals in New York City on July 26 to July 28. Players can find the server region for each week on the Fortnite website.
Scoring
Scores for both Solo and Duos tournament are as follows:
- Victory Royale: 10 Points
- 2nd-5th: 7 Points
- 6th-15th: 5 Points
- 16-25th: 3 Points
- Each Elimination: 1 Point
