Today, Amazon Studios revealed they are in the process of creating a Fallout television series. In association with Bethesda Game Studios, Bethesda Softworks, Amazon, and Kilter Films, the creators of the HBO show Westworld, Lisa Joy and Jonah Nolan, are looking to bring the post-apocalyptic world of the Fallout series to life in a way we have never seen before.
It is a common opinion within the gaming community that movies based on video games are doomed to be terrible. However, since the success of Netflix’s take on The Witcher (which was originally a book series), Amazon is testing to see if television shows are the medium for the genre. If Amazon executives enjoy the script enough, the show may be able to bypass the pilot phase. This would mean the show would be greenlit as a series.
Fallout TV Show Announcement
The news was announced as a brief teaser trailer simply revealing the announcement on Fallout’s signature retro black and white television screen. “Over the last decade, we looked at many ways to bring Fallout to the screen,” said Bethesda Game Studios Executive Producer, Todd Howard. “But it was clear from the moment I first spoke with Jonah and Lisa a few years ago, that they and the team at Kilter were the ones to do it right. We’re enormous fans of their work and couldn’t be more excited to work with them and Amazon Studios.”

Jonah Nolan is the brother of director Christopher Nolan. Jonah has worked as a writer on films like The Dark Knight, Interstellar, and The Prestige. He also worked on Westworld alongside his wife, Lisa. “Fallout is an iconic global franchise, with legions of fans worldwide and a rich, deeply compelling storyline that powers it. And Jonah and Lisa are the perfect storytellers to bring this series to life,” said Albert Cheng, COO and Co-Head of Television, Amazon Studios.
No details about the story have been revealed regarding the upcoming show. All we know is that it will take place in the Fallout universe. How exactly the show will be tied to the games remains unclear. We will be sure to update you here as new details are revealed.
