Progress is coming along on Euro Truck Simulator 2’s Austria map rework, which SCS Software initially announced last December. Some of the rework features include new textures and improved map design throughout various parts of Austria. In a blog post published on Friday, the developer shared a collection of screenshots showcasing their rework progress on the map, focusing mainly on The Alps and its surrounding roads.
The Alps are known for having winding roads that provide challenges for drivers, especially truckers. Despite this, SCS plans to make available roads that are typically off-limits to truck drivers, such as the Grossglockner High Alpine Road. “We decided that we wouldn’t want to take away access to this famous but challenging route for our drivers,” reads the blog post.
Highways will be getting a facelift as part of the Austria map rework as well. It seems truckers who explore new routes in The Alps may be rewarded with stunning scenery along the way. “We hope you find time in the future to check all of the routes possible in the region, as each are unique and may surprise you with beautiful scenic views.”
The Austria map rework in Euro Truck Simulator 2 is currently in progress and does not yet have an estimated release date. Stay tuned to Guide Stash for updates and head over to the SCS Software blog for the full gallery of screenshots.
