EA Sports PGA Tour is expected to launch early next year, according to a recent announcement from Electronic Arts. EA revealed the news in a press release on Monday that coincides with the start of the 2021 PGA Championship this week at Kiawah Island Golf Resort.
EA Sports PGA Tour will feature all four major golf championships: The Masters Tournament, US Open Championship, The Open Championship, and PGA Championship. EA has partnered with PGA of America to ensure players get the most immersive virtual experience of the PGA Championship. Thanks to the partnership, EA Sports PGA Tour will also feature coaching challenges and tutorials made in collaboration with the PGA Education and Player Development Departments to help players both on and off the course.
“The PGA of America is committed to growing interest and participation in golf, and we’re excited to partner with EA SPORTS to support the goal of reaching golf’s next generation,” said PGA President Jim Richerson. “The EA SPORTS team is working diligently with the PGA to authentically represent the PGA Championship in the game, and we’re thrilled that the game will shine a light on our PGA Professionals, who are some of the most important ambassadors for the sport.”
In EA Sports PGA Tour, players will get to experience golfing at virtual renderings of the most recent PGA Championship host courses located at Kiawah Island and Southern Hills Country Club. Staying true to tradition, the game will also highlight the “Team of 20” PGA Club Professionals on the in-game leaderboard.
“I’m happy that EA SPORTS will feature so many of the traditions the PGA Championship is best known for, including highlighting members of the ‘Team of 20’ PGA Professionals,” said two-time PGA Champion, Brooks Koepka.
Aside from the new release window, not much else is known about EA Sports PGA Tour. However, new details from EA Sports will emerge as each major championship takes place this summer, according to today’s release. Stay tuned for more EA Sports PGA Tour updates.
