ConcernedApe’s Haunted Chocolatier is the Next Game From Stardew Valley Creator Eric Barone

Forgo the farm life to pursue haunted chocolate confections in the next adventure from Stardew Valley creator ConcernedApe.

Stardew Valley creator Eric Barone, also known online as ConcernedApe, has revealed his next game: ConcernedApe’s Haunted Chocolatier. Barone announced the upcoming title in a recent blog post on the game’s official website alongside early gameplay footage. You can get the first look at Haunted Chocolatier in the video below.

ConcernedApe’s Haunted Chocolatier Gameplay

Although Haunted Chocolatier is visually very similar to Stardew Valley, Barone has a different type of game lined up this time around. Rather than becoming an independent farmer, players will be running a chocolate shop out of a haunted castle in Haunted Chocolatier. “In Stardew Valley, the focus was more humble: living off the land, growing food, and connecting to the people and nature around you,” explains Barone. “However, with my next game, I wanted to explore more fantastical possibilities… experiences that take you beyond the ordinary. That’s where magical haunted ghost chocolate comes in.”

The game is very early in development, which means there is still a lot of mystery surrounding Haunted Chocolatier. Barone admits that much of the game is still taking shape. “It’s evolving organically as I develop it, so I’m not sure where it will go. But at its core, the gameplay loop involves gathering ingredients, making chocolate, and running a chocolate shop. Of course, there’s a lot more to the game than that, but I don’t want to get too deep into at this early stage, partly because I don’t want to be tied down to any particular concept of what the game is.”
