The anticipated follow-up to 2015’s hit city-builder Cities: Skylines will be coming later this year, Paradox Interactive announced during its Paradox Announcement Show on Monday. Cities: Skylines 2 is scheduled to launch sometime in 2023 for consoles and PC. The announcement came alongside a new CG trailer, which you can watch below.
Cities: Skylines 2 Announcement
Cities: Skylines 2 is being developed by Colossal Order, the studio that made the first Cities: Skylines in 2015. Although the announcement trailer was light on details, we can expect the sequel to live up to its predecessor given the success of the first game.
Cities: Skylines 2 will release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles as well as PC via Steam. The sequel will also be available to Game Pass subscribers, according to the trailer.
“Create and manage your own city without restrictions,” reads the game description on Steam. “Offering a deep simulation and a living economy, Cities: Skylines II will challenge your decision-making skills and allow you to build the cities of your dreams.”
The city-building sequel wasn’t the only major game announcement to come out of Paradox’s showcase on Monday. The publisher also revealed The Lamplighters League, a brand new turn-based strategy game currently in development at Shadowrun Trilogy studio Harebrained Schemes.
