Developer Torn Banner Studios and publisher Tripwire Presents announced Wednesday that console pre-orders for Chivalry 2 have gone live. A cross-play closed beta will begin near the end of April on consoles and PC. The news comes shortly after the announcement of Chivalry 2’s summer release date.
Chivalry 2 Console Pre-orders
Digital and retail pre-orders for Chivalry 2 are now available on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, as well as on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S. Chivalry 2 features a free cross-generational upgrade for those moving to either the PS5 or Xbox Series X/S consoles from their current-gen versions. The game will be released for PC exclusively on the Epic Games Store. Digitally pre-ordering Chivalry 2 will guarantee access to the cross-play closed beta in April.
Chivalry 2 Cross-play Closed Beta
The Chivalry 2 cross-play closed beta is scheduled to take place from Friday, April 23 through Monday, April 26. Cross-play will be enabled, meaning players on console and PC will battle each other regardless of the platform they are on.
As we mentioned, pre-ordering the game digitally will grant access to the cross-play closed beta. Those who previously enlisted for the Chivalry 2 closed alpha should already be in line for the upcoming closed beta. It’s worth noting that while the Chivalry 2 closed alpha was subject to a non-disclosure agreement, the closed beta will not be under the same NDA restrictions.
The Chivalry 2 closed beta will feature massive, 64-player battles and a variety of game modes. The closed beta also marks the debut of the new Team Objective map called The Siege of Rudhelm. Players will choose from four base classes that expand into additional subclasses that include short and long-distance melee fighters.
Players will also have access to heavy weaponry throughout the battlefield, including Ballistae, Trebuchets, Catapults, Traps, and Ladders. And if the flaming chicken in the teaser trailer above is any indication, there are some surprises in store as well.
Chivalry 2 is a first-person, medieval multiplayer slasher game that releases on June 8, 2021. The game is a follow-up to 2012’s Chivalry: Medieval Warfare and draws inspiration from medieval battles in film. Pre-orders are now available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Epic Games Store. Stay tuned to Guide Stash for more Chivalry 2 coverage.
