Developer Expansive Worlds’ open-world fishing game Call of the Wild: The Angler is poised to debut on PlayStation and Xbox consoles this Thursday, August 30, 2023. The studio announced the news alongside a new developer diary that delves into how the game has evolved over the past year since launching on PC.

Call of the Wild: The Angler will be coming to PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One. Game Pass members will also have access to The Angler on Xbox and PC when it lands on Game Pass on Thursday. The Launch and Deluxe Editions of the game will be available to purchase for a limited time.
The Angler also supports crossplay, meaning PC and console players will be able to fish together at launch. “Call of the Wild: The Angler takes players on a journey to discover the great outdoors and become a master angler, and we’re delighted to be able to bring the game to players across all current PlayStation and Xbox consoles. And, they’ll be able to fish together, no matter their chosen platform, with full cross-play support,” said Samuel Peterson, Managing Director at Expansive Worlds.
The PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of the game will target 60 FPS and will offer Performance and Quality Modes in the game settings. Meanwhile, the PS4, Xbox One, and Series S versions will target 30FPS. Controller haptics have been improved for the console version as well.
