In their most recent Community Update, Larian Studios announced an update to the release date for Baldur’s Gate 3 on PC and PlayStation 5. The PC version is now releasing nearly a month earlier on August 3, 2023. Meanwhile, PS5 users will have to wait a bit longer to play Baldur’s Gate 3, as the game is now expected to release for PS5 on September 6. The console version was initially expected to launch on August 31.
The Baldur’s Gate 3 Community Update on Thursday delves into character creation, races, classes, feats, difficulty settings, and companion characters. The update also covers details regarding the Baldur’s Gate 3 Collector’s Edition, which should be delivered by the end of August. Those who pre-ordered on PC will be emailed a Steam code so they can start playing at launch.
“We set out to make a game that would reward player creativity and truly bring D&D to life in a cinematic way that explores the breadth and depth RPGs can offer,” said CEO and Creative Director Swen Vincke. “Baldur’s Gate 3 has become an astronomical game that never fails to surprise, and I’m super proud of the team. We couldn’t have done this without our early access community, but it’s crazy to think that all this time they experienced less than a quarter of what BG3 has to offer. I cannot wait to hear the stories our players will tell when the full game releases. It’s time to gather your party!”
Those looking forward to getting one final look at Baldur’s Gate 3 ahead of launch should mark their calendars for July 7, as this is when Larian plans to reveal the full scope of the game during the Panel From Hell Release Showcase. The panel will be streamed live across the Larian Studios Twitch, YouTube, and Steam channels.
