In Astroneer, players explore a vast solar system that includes seven distinct planets with unique and often harsh environments. The game can be played solo or alongside friends. Collecting resources, researching technology, and building bases are just the tip of the iceberg in Astroneer. Now players will be able to take Astroneer on the go when the game arrives for Nintendo Switch next year.

While no release date has been specified, Astroneer will be available for Nintendo Switch in early 2022, according to the Astroneer blog. “We have re-architected core systems specifically for the hardware to make sure you can enjoy the full Astroneer experience on the go, and we have worked to add functionality for Switch specific features like local co-op, support for the pro-controller & more,” said System Era Softworks’ Joe Tirado.

Astroneer originally released via Steam Early Access in 2016 and then fully launched its 1.0 version in 2019. Since then, Astroneer has received over 25 updates that have added new content to the game, including Missions, Automation, and Creative Mode. The Switch version of Astroneer will launch with all content that has been released for the game to date and will receive yet another update upon release.
