NetEase has established a new game studio in Spain called Anchor Point, the company announced on Wednesday. According to a news release on the studio’s official website, Anchor Point will focus on developing action-adventure games that “push the boundaries of entertainment and bring elements of surprise into the gameplay.”
The Barcelona-based studio is founded by industry veterans, including former Control designer Paul Ehreth. “Our studio’s motto is ‘Per Aspera, Ad Astra’ (‘through hardships, to the stars’) because we want to build an adventure that will stay fresh and provide a unique experience that will surprise and delight people each time they play, and I want us to acknowledge the challenges we are setting out to face,” said Ehreth. “We’re grateful to NetEase Games for giving us the creative freedom and resources to build this interconnected world that will expand beyond games and reach into other mediums as well.”
While there isn’t any word yet on what the studio’s first title will be, Anchor Point is actively hiring for various departments, both in-office and remote. “We are seeking adventurous teammates who are ready to challenge themselves, are humble and eager to learn, and passionate about crafting exceptional experiences,” says Anchor Point’s career page. Those looking to apply can browse the open roles on the studio’s website. We will keep an eye on what comes out of this game studio in the future, so be sure to stay tuned for updates.
