Starfield, Bethesda’s upcoming sci-fi space RPG, now has an official release date set for this year. Initially, Starfield was expected to release in November 2022. The game was subsequently delayed last year, pushing the release window to early 2023. Although the game has been delayed once again, Bethesda has now confirmed that Starfield will still arrive this year, just a bit later than expected.
Starfield Release Date
So the game is launching this year, but when exactly? Bethesda announced on March 8 that Starfield is scheduled to release on Wednesday, September 6, 2023. The studio revealed the release date alongside a new trailer featuring Starfield game director Todd Howard, which you can watch below.
According to the trailer, Bethesda will host a dedicated Starfield Direct presentation on June 11, 2023, immediately following the Xbox Games Showcase scheduled for the same day. Fans can likely expect another dose of gameplay along with a closer look at the game and its systems during the Starfield showcase. The back-to-back presentations coincide with the week of E3, though Xbox won’t be making a presence at the in-person event this year.
Bethesda revealed the first look at Starfield’s gameplay with a 15-minute trailer released during the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase in June 2022. The gameplay trailer features several NPCs and locations players can expect to encounter in the game, while also offering a look at Starfield’s character creation and skill systems.
Starfield will launch exclusively for Xbox Series X/S consoles and Windows PC on September 6. The game will also be available day one for Xbox Game Pass subscribers.
