You can acquire an array of weapons in Red Dead Redemption 2 by purchasing them or by doing a little exploring. One gun you won’t find in any store is the Rare Shotgun. This guide will show you how to find the Rare Shotgun in Red Dead Redemption 2.
How to Find the Rare Shotgun
A rare Double-Barreled Shotgun is ripe for the taking in Red Dead Redemption 2. It is currently owned by the Hermit. The Hermit is a lonely woodsman living a life of solitude in the woods of Roanoke Ridge.
The Hermit’s cottage is located around Manito Glade, just north of Annesburg, New Hanover. The cottage isn’t available to visit until after Chapter Two, so you won’t have to wait too long after the game starts to get the Rare Shotgun.
When you arrive at the Hermit’s cottage, he will be standing on his porch, threatening you while holding his prized possession. The only way to get the Rare Shotgun is by prying it from his cold dead hands.
Once you’ve taken out the Hermit, you’ll be able to pick the weapon up off the ground. If the Hermit gets the best of you, you’ll have to come back another day to try again. As soon as you get the Rare Shotgun, you’ll be able to tell that it’s a beautiful shotgun as well.
Shotgun Ammo Type
This Double-Barrelled Shotgun has an ammo capacity of two rounds and can use the following ammo:
- Regular Buckshot
- Incendiary Buckshot
- Slug
- Explosive Slug
These ammo types can be purchased from stores in the various towns scattered through Red Dead Redemption 2.
If you’re wondering about how to purchase the Rare Shotgun in Red Dead Online, you’ll have to pay $258 via gunsmiths or through the Handheld Catalog.
