If you’re making your way through the Survivalist challenges in Red Dead Redemption 2, you’ll eventually have to catch a Perch. This can be somewhat tricky if you don’t know where to look and you’re not sure what type of bait to use. In this guide, we’ll show you exactly where you can go fishing to catch a Perch in Red Dead Redemption 2, and what you want to bait your hook with to increase your odds.
Perch Location
Perch are found throughout the northern parts of Red Dead Redemption 2. They are active when sunny and prefer bread as bait. However, you can catch them pretty much any time if you’re using bread and in the right spot. One of those spots is the Dakota River just north of Valentine and Chadwick Farm. In fact, if you stand directly across the river from the “Dakota River” text on your map in that location, you’ll be in prime Perch catching territory. There are many other places that will also work, but you’re here because you can’t find one, so we’re sharing our kill Perch spot to alleviate your troubles.
We were able to catch our Perch as it was getting dark, but don’t get frustrated if it doesn’t happen for you. If you can’t get it right away, head into Valentine for a hot meal, haircut, shave, and bath, then sleep in a comfy bed and come back the next day. When the sun is shining, bait your hook with some bread and toss your line in the water. You should have the fish you seek in short order.
