Cows have been a vital part of our way of life for a very long time. They were especially vital in the Wild West where they were a main source of food. Cows in Red Dead Redemption 2, however, don’t serve the same purpose as they do in real life.

Cows can only be found at farms and cannot be found in the wild. However, killing them at the farm will most likely result in a shootout or a bounty. It is best to first lure the cow away and then make the kill in an isolated location. No matter how you kill a Cow, it will cause your Honor to drop.

Since Cows can only be found at farms, you will have a lot of options to choose from. One location where you can find Cows is Hill Haven Ranch. To get to Hill Haven Ranch, head to Rhodes and go northeast towards Mattock Pond. You will find Hill Haven Ranch settled in between Mattock Pond and the Kamassa River.

Once you have arrived at Hill Haven Ranch, you will find several Cows located behind the fence. To avoid being caught and starting a shootout, it is best to wait until nightfall and kill the Cow under the cover of darkness. Players will want to lasso the Cow and kill it with their knife, as using a gun may cause people to come to investigate.

Cows will reward you with Cow Hide if skinned and Prime Beef. Since you have some Prime Beef, make sure you get some Oregano to combine with it and cook it over a campfire. Stay tuned to Guide Stash for even more Red Dead Redemption 2 content.
