Cougar Location – Red Dead Online

Hunting Cougars in Red Dead Redemption 2 is as dangerous as it is rewarding.

Some animals in Red Dead Redemption 2 are less dangerous to hunt than others and are required to be killed or skinned for daily challenges. One animal you want to be careful when hunting is the Cougar. This guide will show you the Cougar location in Red Dead Online.

Some animals in Red Dead Online could be hunting you while you are hunting them. The Cougar is one animal you will need to be wary of. Cougars go by many names including Puma and Mountain Lion. Cougars can be found in several locations throughout the world of Red Dead Redemption 2. The two locations marked on the map above will be your greatest chance of encountering a Cougar.

The first area is south of Blackwater in the Great Plains. Place a marker at the bottom of the “I” and head that direction. If you are on your horse, slowly approach the area, as the Cougar may be laying down in the grass. The second Cougar location is west of Blackwater in Tall Trees, just left of the “T” in Tall. This Cougar will be laying down on a rock in the ravine.

A scoped rifle is the best weapon to use for this task, as you can take the Cougar out from a distance. Players can use Predator Bait to lure the Cougars out, or use themselves as bait instead. I recommend using Predator Bait, since Cougars are among the few deadly animals you will encounter in Red Dead Redemption 2.

Once you have taken down the Cougar, you can skin your harvest for Cougar Fur, Big Game Meat, and Cougar Fang, or throw it on the back of your horse for a Cougar Carcass.
