Trading Pokémon has been a long-time tradition since Pokémon Red and Blue was released in 1998. In fact, trading Pokémon for ones you didn’t have was the only way to complete the Pokédex. At the time, this was only possible to do in person with a friend using an item called a Link Cable.

Fast forward to 2022 and trading Pokémon has become very different. No longer do you need to be in the same room with someone and physically connected with a cable. Pokémon Legends: Arceus adds one more item, so you don’t even have to trade with a person to trigger evolutions on certain Pokémon.

A Linking Cord is an item that has been introduced to Pokémon Legends: Arceus that allows a player to evolve a Pokémon that would normally need to be traded to trigger its evolution. Obtaining a Linking Cord may take some work and there are only a few ways to get one.

One way to obtain a Linking Cord is by purchasing one from Simona, who can be found on the opposite end of the entrance to Jubilife, for 1,000 Merit Points. Another way to obtain a Linking Cord is to complete missions that offer the item as a reward. Finally, you can also find them during a Space-Time Distortion event as one of the many items you can find on the ground.
