Thundurus is an Electric and Flying-type Legendary Pokémon and can be yours with the right counters in Pokémon GO.

Niantic has brought a Legendary Pokémon for Trainers to team up against and catch. This Pokémon will strike you with lightning and will be tough to beat without the right team. This guide will help you pick the Thundurus raid counters in Pokémon GO.

Thundurus Raid Counters

Thundurus is an Electric and Flying-type Legendary Pokémon first introduced in Generation V. This Legendary has two forms with the Incarnate Forme being available and is part of the Forces of Nature trio with Tornadus and Landorus. Trainers will want to form a team consisting of Ice and Rock-type Pokémon as Thundurus is weak to them. The counters below will give you a chance at defeating Thundurus.

  • Rampardos – Smack Down and Rock Slide.
  • Rhyperior – Smack Down and Stone Edge or Rock Wrecker.
  • Mamoswine (Bebop) – Powder Snow and Avalanche.
  • Glaceon (Rea) – Frost Breath and Avalanche.
  • Tyranitar – Smack Down and Stone Edge.
  • Weavile – Frost Breath and Avalance.

Having multiples of the same Pokémon on your team is acceptable if you don’t have some of the suggestions listed above. While my Mamoswine, Weavile, and Glaceon aren’t strong enough, I have several Rhyperiors on hand who will get the job done. Keep in mind that Thundurus is a Tier 5 Raid, so you will want to be in a group of four to seven to properly defeat this Legendary Pokémon.

After defeating Thundurus, you will collect your rewards and be taken to a screen that will allow you to catch it. Thundurus will be a welcome addition to your vast collection of Pokémon and possibly fill in that empty PokéDex spot if you haven’t caught one. Stay tuned to Guide Stash for more Pokémon GO content.
