The reason for this is they now guarantee a high-rarity weapon at no cost. Thankfully, tracking down one of these resources isn’t hard, as they are just about everywhere.
How Vending Machines Work in Fortnite
Vending machines have been a staple in the Fortnite Battle Royale mode ever since they were introduced. In the Season 8 v8.10 update, vending machines were changed to have no material cost, making the gear they drop free. Furthermore, common and uncommon vending machines are no longer in the game. What this means is that all the machines on the map are guaranteed to drop high-rarity items.
The only other major change worth mentioning is that vending machines are now single-use. Once you interact with one and get the weapon or item, it will be destroyed.
Vending Machine Locations
Knowing where to find a vending machine is going to come in handy, especially at the start of a match. The reason for this is that the scramble for a weapon is often a top priority and being able to guarantee yourself a decent weapon or consumable will greatly increase your chances of survival.

The vending machines in Fortnite are an extremely valuable resource for players. By finding one, and activating it, you’re guaranteed a top-tier weapon or consumable. The trouble will be getting to one before an enemy reaches it.
