Players who make decent progress in Elden Ring will find themselves in need of a special Glintstone Key that grants access to the prestigious Academy of Raya Lucaria. The Academy Glintstone Key allows you to pass through the magically blocked gates of the academy. A Glintstone Key is also needed for those looking to complete the Thops questline. Academy Glintstone Key Locations
The gate to the Academy of Raya Lucaria is blocked by a magical barrier. To enter, players must first obtain an Academy Glintstone Key. You may have heard of this key upon speaking with Thops in the Church of Irith.
Academy Glintstone Key #1
The Academy Glintstone Key is found in two different locations in Elden Ring. The first is on a small patch of land in the water west of the academy. The location is north of the Temple Quarter Site of Grace in Liurnia of the Lakes. We have marked the location with a beacon on the in-game map screenshot below. This is also the location indicated by the Meeting Place Map.
When approaching from the south, you should see flying scarabs hovering throughout the area. Be careful as you approach, as this is also the home of the powerful Glintstone Dragon Smarag. The Academy Glintstone Key can be looted off a sorcerer’s corpse just behind the dragon. You can choose to sneak past the dragon if your goal is simply to get the Glintstone Key.
Academy Glintstone Key #2
Another Academy Glintstone Key can be found after accessing the academy itself. The key is on a corpse upon a chandelier in the Church of the Cuckoo. To find the second Glintstone Key, you must first make your way to the Raya Lucaria Academy Debate Parlor to defeat the Red Wolf of Radagon.
From the boss room, exit out the north gate and head left up the pile of broken rubble. Continue left past the series of sorcerers and hop over a railing down onto a staircase. Go upstairs and around the left corner. Jump over another railing onto a series of rooftops and climb the ladder across the way.
Continue making your way across and down the rooftops until you reach the Church of Cuckoo rooftop. Look for an open window where you can enter onto the beams inside the church. Look for a corpse on a chandelier holding the second Academy Glintstone Key. Players can give this second Glintsone Key to Thops in the Church of Irith to progress his questline.
