There are plenty of dark caverns, corridors, and catacombs throughout Elden Ring. One item that players will want to have handy while exploring dark areas is a lantern. Unlike torches, lanterns attach to your waist, offering players a hands-free option for illuminating their surroundings. Continue reading to find out where to get a lantern in Elden Ring.
Elden Ring Lantern Locations

Lanterns are sold at two different merchants in Elden Ring. Both merchants sell the lantern for 1800 Runes. Here’s where to find the two merchants that sell lanterns in Elden Ring:
- The merchant inside the Isolated Merchant’s Shack on the west side of the Weeping Peninsula.
- The Nomadic Merchant in Liurnia of the Lakes, just south of the Liurnia Lake Shore Site of Grace.
Players exploring the Weeping Peninsula sub-region to the south of Limgrave will want to make their way west to the Isolated Merchant’s Shack. The shack has its own Site of Grace and is located near the coast, not far from a Walking Mausoleum. Another way to get to this location is also travel southwest from the Fourth Church of Marika.

Players who have made their way to Liurnia of the Lakes can purchase a lantern from a Nomadic Merchant in this region. While traveling along the road leading northwest from the Church of Irith, look for a merchant’s campfire just before Liurnia Lake Shore, as shown in the map image below.

The lantern can be equipped to one of your equipment slots and can easily be turned on and off on the fly. Although lanterns are dimmer than torches, the lantern frees up your hands and does not take up an armament slot. Be sure to check out our Elden Ring archives for more guides and tips.
