Two-handing a weapon in Elden Ring is a two-step process that requires pressing multiple buttons. To two-hand in Elden Ring, start by pressing and holding the Y button on Xbox or the Triangle button on PlayStation.

Next, you will need to press one of the shoulder buttons, depending on which hand is holding the weapon you wish to two-hand. While still holding the Y/Triangle button, press RB/R1 to two-hand the weapon in your right hand, or press LB/L1 to two-hand the weapon in your left. Alternatively, you can press the trigger buttons, RT/R2 and LB/L2, instead of the shoulder buttons.

To return the weapon back to one hand, simply repeat the steps by holding down Y/Triangle and pressing one of the shoulder buttons to wield it with one hand again.
