Patches is a fan-favorite recurring character that appears in various FromSoftware games. Patches has made appearances in Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, and even Armored Core. Now, Tarnished can find this bald-headed trickster in the Lands Between. In this guide, we’ll explain where to go to find Patches in Elden Ring.
Elden Ring: Patches Location
Patches the Untethered is found inside Murkwater Cave, which is located in the ravine on the north side of Agheel Lake in Limgrave. If this is your first time in this area, be prepared to get invaded by a hostile NPC named Bloody Finger Nerijus upon entering the ravine. Survive long enough and a second friendly NPC will be summoned automatically to aid you against the invader.
Murkwater Cave is very dark, so we recommend bringing a torch or lantern with you to navigate the cave’s dark tunnels. Upon entering Murkwater Cave, get ready to fight off a series of Highwaymen in the first room. Continue through the cave to grab any collectibles if you wish, though you don’t have to in order to meet Patches. From the first room, look for a passage on the right and head through a dark corridor. At the end will be a boss door. This is where you will encounter Patches.
Nothing will happen right away when you enter the boss room. This is because you have to interact with the chest in the back of the room to trigger his appearance. Upon opening the chest, Patches will drop down and the battle will begin.
Don’t be too aggressive when fighting Patches, as he will eventually surrender when he has about a quarter health left. At this point, players have the choice to either stop attacking and let Patches live, or continue fighting until he’s dead.
If you are hoping to complete Patches’ questline, you will want to spare him. This will allow Patches to become available as a merchant the next time you visit. Killing Patches causes him to drop a Bell Bearing that can be given to the Twin Maiden Husks in Roundtable Hold, making his shop items available through them.
