Through your journey in Destiny 2: Shadowkeep you may come across enemies that have a Barrier. These enemies will produce a barrier that surrounds them and allows them to heal any damage that was caused. Having the right mods in your artifact will deplete this barrier and allow you to do more damage.

Guardians only have a few options when it comes to weapons that are more effective against Barrier Champions. These are the mods you will want to have in your artifact.

  • Anti-Barrier Rounds – Shield-piercing rounds designed to bypass combatant defenses. Strong against Barrier Champions. Usable on Auto Rifles and Submachine Guns.
  • Anti-Barrier Hand Cannon – Shield-piercing rounds designed to bypass combatant defenses. Strong against Barrier Champions.

Guardians can also gain Grenade and Melee energy on final blows with these mods.

  • Breach Refractor – Grants grenade energy on final blows with shield-piercing weapons or when a member of your fireteam shuts down a Barrier Champion’s ability. This Chest Armor Mod has an Energy Cost of three.
  • Ballistic Combo – Grants melee energy on final blows with shield-piercing weapons or when a member of your fireteam shuts down a Barrier Champion’s ability. This Chest Armor Mod has an Energy Cost of three.

These mods will come in handy when you come across Barrier Champions. I have The Ringing Nail Auto Rifle with Anti-Barrier Rounds as my Barrier Champion slayer. The Unstoppable Champions and Overload Champions will also require special mods to assist in dealing damage.
