If you have been trying to log on to Destiny services today but find you are unable to do so, there is no cause for concern. While it is never pleasant to try and log on to one of your favorite games and not be able to, there is a good reason this time.
Is Destiny 2 Down Today?
Destiny 2 is offline, but I wouldn’t describe it as “down” in the usual sense. All Destiny services are offline today as the game warms up for some pretty big events tomorrow. Up first, the PC version of Destiny 2 will be going live on Steam. Then, there is the release of Shadowkeep, the next chapter in your Guardians adventure. Finally, Destiny 2: New Light arrives, the new free to play experience that will be welcoming a whole host of Kinderguardians on their journey into the Destiny universe.
With so many significant changes coming, an extensive maintenance period of 24 hours has been planned. The service went offline today and will be back up on Tuesday, October 1 at 1 pm EST at the traditional weekly reset time. For PC players, an important step to take care of before tomorrow is moving your game information from the Blizzard App to Steam. To do so, head over to Bungie.net and follow the steps in their useful tool.
Players on all platforms should potentially expect some long queue times when trying to get in tomorrow, so don’t be disheartened. Meanwhile, PC players get to enjoy the potential turmoil and teething issues of the game going live on a whole new service.
So, hopefully, one whole day isn’t too much of an ask in light of all the exciting new things coming our way tomorrow. We’ll be jumping straight into Shadowkeep to bring you useful guides to help you get ahead, so make sure to keep an eye on the site.
