How to Set Up Permanent Ladders
In order to place a permanent ladder beside a cliff in New Horizons, players must first obtain the Wooden Ladder Set-up Kit. This kit allows players to create a longer ladder that can be permanently placed beside cliffs. They’re more like semi-permanent ladders, as you can still pick them up and move them as you wish.

The DIY recipe for the Wooden Ladder Set-up Kit is available from Nook’s Cranny for 2,000 Bells. To craft the kit, you will need:
- 1 Ladder
- 50 Wood
You can also purchase the basic Ladder recipe from Nook’s Cranny for 500 Bells. Crafting a Ladder requires the following materials:
- 4 Wood
- 4 Hardwood
- 4 Softwood
When you have the materials, head over to your DIY workbench and craft the Wooden Ladder Set-up Kit.

With the set-up kit in hand, approach a cliff where you want to place the ladder. Select the Wooden Ladder Set-up Kit in your inventory, then select Set Next to Cliff. Your ladder will remain where you place it until you pick it up again.
